Security Guard

As an employee of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, you will provide the best in customer service while working as an ambassador for the live performing arts. In addition, you will be cultivating an active interest in the Center as a premier venue for performance art, education programming and as a gathering place for the community.

Under the direct supervision of the manager of physical plant, will provide protection of property, assets and people of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center by maintaining a high visibility presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, observing (either directly, through patrols, or by watching alarm systems or video cameras) for signs of crime, fire or disorder; then taking action and reporting any incidents appropriate house personnel and emergency services. This is a part-time position and requires many evening and weekend duties.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises
  • Operate electronic door control system to allow access into areas of the building as directed by house management
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances
  • Assist house management with guests disturbances
  • Provide security for staff members as they leave the building
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property
  • Provide additional security as deemed necessary by the production company
  • Control access to and monitor activity in various parking lots
  • Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons
  • Warn persons of rule infractions or violations
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregulariries, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unudual occurrences

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must by 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum one year security related experience
  • Must be able to work flexible hours such as weekends, nights and holidays
  • Must pass a pre-work screening assessment
  • Must be able to stand, walk and patrol a minimum of a four hour shift
  • Must be able to lift, carry and move equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Alert and keen observation skills and verbal and writing abilitites to document violations or suspicious behavior
  • Remain calm and controlled when working under pressure or in stressful and potentially dangerous situations
  • Meet the physical demands of the job, as noted in the job description for this position, with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Demonstrate abilities to be efficient and courteous while interacting with a large number of guests
  • Abilitiy to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment


  • This is a part-time position, wage to commensurate with experience.
