Introduce students to jazz with this interactive performance that illuminates the art form’s cultural origins and concepts about improvisation and self-expression. Get Hip! allows students the opportunity to explore the role of each individual member of the jazz ensemble and how they work together to achieve the collective goal of making great music. This show also draws parallels among the ensemble and community as an effective means by which to promote important social values like civic responsibility, teamwork and cooperation.
