Center Stage High School Musical Theater Awards Summer Workshop


You are invited to participate in an interactive, three-day summer workshop focused on all things musical theater July 16-18, 2018. This workshop experience is open to incoming (2018-19) 9-12th grade students with space limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Registration is open June 1 - July 1, 2018. Workshop Fee: $50

 

Seize The Day - Storytelling Through Singing, Acting and Dance Workshop

Performance

Come develop your storytelling skills in all three areas of performance! Clinicians and Center Stage Adjudicators, Corrie Beula Kovacs and Steve Kovacs of Know How Theatre, will give you new tools for your performing toolbox. In a three-day workshop, students will learn how character development in scene, song and dance can serve their story. The workshop will focus on individuals making effective choices within an ensemble, culminating in a performance of the scene and song “Seize the Day” from Disney’s Newsies!

Know How Theatre, a new Fox Valley non-for-profit group, has been formed by local arts educators to bring professional, quallity, experiential and educational-based opportunities to young talent in the area.

Corrie Beula Kovacs graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Millikin University. Subsequently, she moved to New York City. For ten years, Corrie found work in dramatic and comedic plays, musicals, revues, workshops and commercials, including two Broadway tours. She has performed with regional professional companies including Northern Sky Theater and Play-by-Play Theatre. She is the owner-operator of Show How, LLC which provides advanced theatrical training to students in the Fox Valley.

Steve Kovacs attended The Miami University in Oxford, OH where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education. He has taught general music, choral music, show choir and individual voice lessons during a 12-year teaching career. He has served as Director, Music Director, Choreographer and Production Assistant on numerous area community and school productions and has performed with Play-by-Play Theatre in Green Bay. He is currently developing a show with Corrie for Northern Sky Theater in Door County.
