2. Hairspray Live! entertains
Hairspray Live! entertained audiences this month. NBC’s latest live musical didn’t do as well in the ratings as The Wiz and Peter Pan, however the production was full of several memorable moments and a whole lot of fun.

3. Grammy Nominations are in
Nominations were announced this month for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, which will take place on February 12, 2017, hosted by Tony winner James Corden. Four Broadway productions and one West End show are in the running for Best Musical Theater Album including Bright Star (Original Broadway Cast), The Color Purple (New Broadway Cast), Fiddler on the Roof (2016 Broadway Cast), Kinky Boots (Original West End Cast) and Waitress (Original Broadway Cast).

4. Wicked becomes 9th longest running show
Oh what a celebration! Broadway's soaring hit Wicked officially took over the title of ninth longest-running show on Broadway when they marked their 5,462 performance at the Gershwin Theatre December 4. Beauty and the Beast was the previous holder of the ninth spot. To celebrate, put together the top nine show clips featuring the original cast.

5. Dear Evan Hansen, starring Ben Platt, creates buzz
Dear Evan Hansen, the new musical from Tony nominees Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (who teamed up for A Christmas Story, Dogfight, and Edges before this) and starring Pitch Perfect's Ben Platt, opened on Broadway Dec. 4 and is already receiving buzz. Get the scoop on this new musical on
