The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center’s
Board of Directors welcomes several new leaders while saying thank you to retiring board members. Ryan M. Downs and Karen Nelson will fill vacancies created by retiring board members Beth Flaherty and Peter Helander.
"We would like to thank Beth and Peter for their dedication and support of the Center's mission throughout the years and welcome the new members to our Board of Directors," said Fox Cities P.A.C. President Maria Van Laanen. "We appreciate the work our Board of Directors does to ensure the Center remains focused on being a gathering place for our community to engage in educational opportunities and enhance the understanding and enjoyment of life through the live performing arts."
"The Board of Directors is a wonderful asset in supporting the Center's mission. This group of community leaders is a strong advocate for the arts and together we look forward to sharing the Fox Cities P.A.C. with our community," said Board Chair Angelo Ninivaggi.
Angelo Ninivaggi will continue to serve as board chair. Ninivaggi is currently the Senior Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer, General Counsel and Secretary of Plexus Corp. where he has been employed since 2002. Ninivaggi first joined the Center’s Board in 2012.
Kevin Gilligan has been elected as vice chair of the board. Gilligan has most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Appvion, Inc. Gilligan has been on the Center's Board since 2015.
John Krause, will continue in his role as secretary-treasurer. Krause is a partner with Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. Krause first joined the board at the Center in 2012.
ABOUT THE NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Ryan M. Downs is President of GLK Foods and represents the fourth generation of the company's family ownership. Downs holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and sits on the Executive Board of the Midwest Food Processors Association, the advisory Board of Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin and is Chairman of the Board for Appleton Boychoir. He and his wife Marissa have three daughters and live in Appleton.
Karen Nelson is the Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator for the City of Appleton. Nelson holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Bennett College (Greensboro, NC) and an Executive MBA from the Lubar School of Business Management at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She was a former Board Member at First Stage Children's Theatre, and is a member of Fox Valley-SHRM, NAAAHR-Milwaukee and Delta Sigma Theta International Public Service Sorority, Inc. She is married with two adult children.
The Fox Cities Performing Arts Center’s Board of Directors oversees the nonprofit organization’s strategic direction and fiscal responsibility. The mission of the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is to serve as a gathering place for the community to engage in educational opportunities and enhance understanding and enjoyment of life through the creation and presentation of the arts. The Center does this by providing a premier venue for performing arts attractions and a dynamic environment for arts organizations. Board members volunteer their time and expertise, committing to three-year terms of service at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
