Each year the Annual Chairman’s Gala is held to celebrate and support the mission of the Center to be the gathering place for the community to engage in educational opportunities and enhance understanding and enjoyment of life through the creation and presentation of the arts. It’s at this special event that supporters get to socialize, enjoy a fantastic meal and bid on unique experiences.
This year, live auction items included a one of a kind painting by local artist Julie Jilek that was done during cocktail hour that evening; an exclusive experience to watch Beautiful – The Carole King Musical
from the orchestra pit with local musician Marc Jimos; a personalized song written by local group FEATherWOLF; and a special opportunity to be a stage manager for a day here and at Summerfest.
Money raised from the event and live auction benefit the Center’s mission and goes to support mission-based programs such as the Bemis Company Education Series
, Frank C. Shattuck P.A.T.H.S.
program, residencies like our recent week of community conversation
with Spectrum Dance Theater, and so much more that bring people together to experience the arts in a deep and meaningful way.
In addition to celebrating the arts, the Annual Chairman’s Gala is our opportunity to honor individual(s) or organization(s) that have contributed to the mission of the Center by presenting the Distinguished Service Award. This year, the Center’s Board of Directors selected Dr. John and Mrs. Sally Mielke as the recipients.
The Mielkes were selected for their overwhelming support of the Center since its creation. This includes supporting specific passion projects including educational programs and the Center’s week of community autism programming in 2016. The Mielkes are also a key sponsor of the Broadway League’s Family First Nights® program, which will celebrate its tenth year partnering with the Boys and Girls Club to provide families in need the opportunity to enjoy live theater and engaging activities together in the 2017-18 Season.
“John and Sally have supported and advocated for the Center since day one. Their dedication to the Center’s mission has helped us to create programs and initiatives that have engaged and inspired so many. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor their philanthropy and partnership with this year’s Distinguished Service Award.” said Board of Directors Chair Beth Flaherty.
This year’s gala also gave us the opportunity to honor departing Board Chair Beth Flaherty, thanking her for her service to the Center’s board and ongoing dedication to the Center’s mission.
We thank all of those in attendance for their continued support of the arts and look forward to celebrating at the Annual Chairman’s Gala next spring!
