Attending a live performance is a distinctly shared experience, and every sound from the stage or gasp from the audience matters. To help ensure every patron can fully immerse themselves in the arts, your Fox Cities Performing Arts Center is proud to offer comprehensive hearing access services. From state-of-the-art assistive listening devices to open-captioned performances, we are dedicated to providing a clear, comfortable and accommodating environment for all of our guests.

Assistive Listening Devices
Assistive listening devices (ALDs) are tools that amplify sound, eliminate background noise and improve sound clarity for patrons that do not have a telecoil-equipped device. ALDs and headphones are available at every performance and are available to check out on a first-come, first-served basis at the Patron Services Desk located in the Main Lobby. A credit card or driver’s license is required to check out an ALD or headphones.
Open & Closed Captioning
Captioning services provide real-time text displays of dialogue, sound effects and other audio elements during a performance. Captions are offered through closed captioning and open captioning services.
Closed captioning services are provided to your personal device through the free app, GalaPro. When you take your seat, set your device to Airplane mode and connect to the GalaPro Wi-Fi network using the password “galapro1”. First-time users must create a free account. This service is offered for every performance of most Broadway shows.
Open captioning services are provided by a screen in front of the theater and are visible to patrons in the audience. This service is offered at the Saturday matinee performances for most Broadway shows and upon request, at least three weeks prior to the performance, and pending availability.
Phone mounts and tablets with the GalaPro app are available at the Patron Services Desk in the Main Lobby. A credit card or driver’s license is required to check out a tablet or phone mount.
Hearing Loop
A hearing loop is an assistive listening system that uses a wire loop to transmit sound to a telecoil in a hearing aid or cochlear implant, eliminating background noise and improving sound clarity. Hearing loop systems are available in Thrivent Hall, Kimberly-Clark Theater and the Ticket Office Lobby. Patrons can test their T-coil device in the theater once they have taken their seat (music should be playing). Not all personal hearing devices are equipped with a telecoil, and patrons are encouraged to discuss their telecoil settings with their audiologist before arriving at the Center. The hearing loop is always available for patron use while at the Center.
Sign Language Interpretation
Sign language interpretation is the process of translating spoken language, like English and sounds into a signed language, like American Sign Language (ASL). Interpretation is provided by licensed and certified professionals in front of the theater who use hand signs, facial expressions and body language to convey dialogue on stage in real time. ASL interpretation is offered at the Sunday matinee performances for most Broadway shows. Sign language interpreters (English and ASL), cued speech transliterators, oral interpreters and tactile interpreters are available upon request, at least three weeks prior to the performance, and pending availability.
