Ticket transfers and exchanges: What to know before you buy

April 11, 2025

When you purchase a ticket to a live arts experience at your Fox Cities Performing Arts Center, you deserve to feel confident that you know what to expect: where you will sit, what time is best to arrive, and what to do when plans change. So, here’s a quick guide to what you need to know about ticket transfers, donations and exchanges.

What is a ticket transfer?

A ticket transfer is a process that allows you to give your already-purchased ticket(s) to another patron. This is what you’re looking to do when you want to give your tickets to a friend. In the transfer process, the only information that changes is who the ticket belongs to. The seat(s) and date of the performance will remain the same.

When you transfer your ticket (through Ticketmaster, your Fox Cities P.A.C. mobile app, or your account manager), your barcode/mobile pass will simply be reassigned, and nothing further is needed from you. The process is intended to be as stress-free as possible!

What if I don’t have a specific person in mind for my ticket, but I know I can’t attend my event?

Sometimes unexpected conflicts arise, and you are no longer able to attend an event after you’ve purchased tickets. There are several options available to you when this happens. If you are a season ticket holder, you may call your Fox Cities P.A.C. ticket office more than 48 hours before the show date/time on your ticket (more than 72 hours before for select shows) to ask about an exchange for another showing that will best accommodate you. (More on exchanges below.)

You can also give back to your community with the Ticket Donation Program. Through this process, your ticket will be returned to your Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and redistributed to partnering local nonprofit organizations. This option was created to help reach community members who may otherwise have difficulty independently purchasing tickets, due to factors such as financial limitations or language barriers.

The value of any tickets you donate through the Ticket Donation Program may be claimed on your taxes as a Charitable Gift.

What is a ticket exchange?

A ticket exchange is the process by which a Season Ticket Holder swaps their ticket to a different performance date within the same title or changes seats. This option is only available to Broadway Season Ticket Holders as a benefit of subscription and may be limited based on availability.

To initiate a ticket exchange, Season Ticket Holders may contact their Fox Cities Performing Arts Center’s Ticket Office or access their Fox Cities P.A.C. mobile app.

Please note: if new seats or performance dates have a higher face value, you will need to pay the difference to successfully complete the exchange.

Can I exchange tickets for my show to see another one?

While Season Ticket Holders may make exchanges in a number of ways within the same Broadway show title, it is not possible for the exchange to involve a completely different show.

What if my ticket’s performance time has already passed?

It is important to stay alert and always double-check your performance dates/times are accurate. Unfortunately, once a performance has passed, your Fox Cities P.A.C. can’t accept ticket transfers, exchanges, donations or refunds.

As an additional safeguard, your Fox Cities P.A.C. recommends you add your tickets to your wallet on your mobile device. When you add your ticket to your mobile wallet, your phone will create an alert the day of your event and this will serve as a supplemental reminder.

And remember, the only verifiable sources for tickets to Fox Cities P.A.C. events are foxcitiespac.com and Ticketmaster. If, for any reason, you have chosen to make a third-party purchase, the Ticket Office will be unable to provide refunds or exchanges because the purchase funds went to the reseller – not to the Center. Additionally, invalid tickets purchased through a third-party reseller will not grant access to any Fox Cities P.A.C. show. If your Fox Cities Performing Arts Center did not process the sale, your seat ownership and validity may be in question. Read more about best safety practices when purchasing tickets here.
