What is a relaxed performance?

Our 2019-20 Spotlight Series will feature Monkey BAA Theatre Company’s Diary of a Wombat based on the book by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley. This theatrical interpretation of the beloved book will be presented as a relaxed, sensory-friendly performance. What does that mean?
  • Everyone is welcome to be themselves! Relaxed performances are designed to create a welcoming and judgement-free space that is inclusive of young children, families and individuals who may otherwise enjoy being able to move around or react.
  • This performance is specifically designed to be sensory-friendly with no loud noises, low light levels and other modifications. Sensory-friendly performances help to welcome patrons who may have sensory sensitivities, learning differences or other challenges attending the theater. A social story about visiting the Center is already available on our website.
  • Diary of a Wombat will be a 45-minute performance, followed by a 10-15 minute talkback making it a perfect length for first-time theatergoers.
