Classroom Connections Teacher Workshops

The mission of Classroom Connections Teacher Workshops is to create professional development opportunities to help educators use the arts as a catalyst for effective instruction in every curricular area to meet the needs of all students.

Classroom Connections Teacher Workshops are presented in a way that helps educators feel confident, comfortable and enthusiastic to use the arts to teach core curriculum. Taught by professional teaching artists who provide practical tools that promote active investment in the curriculum, these participatory workshops share a fresh and exciting way to educate.

Re/sound: Sounds of Wisconsin
March 3, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Join WSMA and PBS Wisconsin Re/sound: Songs of Wisconsin curriculum writer, Natasha Verhulst, as she shares her cultural insight, lesson ideas and additional First Nations resources for the upcoming Re/sound lesson, Mashkiiziibii Youth Singers. Natasha brings years of presentation experience at the local, district and state level sharing her cultural experiences with educators and students alike. Recommended for grades K-8.

Goals of workshop:

  • Explore connections between music, identities, cultures, and emotions.
  • Recognize shared and unique elements of distinct pieces of music.
  • Relate content to personal experiences choosing, playing, and sharing music.
