Travel Updates

New Roadway Design

Downtown Appleton recently underwent a lane reconfiguration project, known as “Smart Streets Appleton.” The new roadway design (from four travel lanes to two travel lanes with a center turn lane and dedicated bike lanes) develops a multimodal corridor that enhances the outdoor experience, supports local businesses and bolsters a welcoming downtown. As the community acclimates to these changes, you are encouraged to use alternate streets (ie. Franklin Street, Washington Street) while traveling to your Fox Cities P.A.C. and add extra travel time.

Construction on I-41 exit 125

I-41 exit 125 east to highway CE/College Ave is closed but is anticipated to re-open by November, 2023. We recommend these alternate routes:

  • From the north: I-41 southbound traffic coming from north of Appleton should exit highway 47 south/Richmond St., ending at the Richmond St./College Ave intersection.
  • From the south: I-41 northbound traffic coming from south of Appleton should exit WIS 441 northbound to WIS 47 northbound with this alternate route ending at the Richmond St./College Ave. intersection.
  • From the west: take HWY 10 east/WIS 441 to WIS 47 northbound, with this alternate route ending at the Richmond St./College Ave. intersection.
