Meet Amelia Gibbons, Center Stage Program Alum

July 25, 2024

Meet Ameilia Gibbons, a 2021-2023 alum of the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program. Amelia was one of the Jimmy Awards® nominees in 2022 and was nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role in 2023 for her role as Campbell in Bring It On: The Musical before graduating from Green Bay Southwest High School.

“It is incredible the impact that the Center Stage Program has had on me, and countless other students. This program shows students the power that they hold within themselves when it comes to the arts.”
– Amelia Gibbons 2021-2023 Program Alum

After being a recipient of Outstanding Performance in a Lead Role two years in a row and participating in the Center Stage High School Musical Theater Showcase with her school as they received an Outstanding Ensemble recognition, she reflects on her favorite memory of the Center Stage Program: “I would choose performing with my school as an Outstanding Ensemble with Green Bay Southwest in 2023. I had performed individually prior, which was an incredible honor, but there was nothing like being on stage with the strength of my classmates as we had supported once another throughout the process.”

One piece of knowledge gained through the program that Amelia holds on to in all aspects of her life and the performing arts is related to a small card she received in an audition workshop for the possible Jimmy Awards® nominees in 2022. The card had an anagram of the word “STAR”, standing for: Study, True to you, Accept and Recognize. Even two years later, that card is pinned to her corkboard on her desk where she reads it every day. Amelia is pursuing her dreams at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point where she is studying to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater with a minor in Child, Youth and Family Studies.
